Val On the Back

]Here it is the day we’ve all been waiting for…Super Bowl Sunday! Val and I have also been waiting for her final race tune-up to the LA Marathon next month. The City of Huntington Beach hosted the Pacific Shoreline Marathon. What a great event and a fast course, mostly along a closed portion of Pacific Coast Hwy from the Hilton start to the turnaround in the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. I had a great time myself as I was on Bont inlines skating up and down the course taking pictures of Val at her various stages and advertising Crossfit by wearing a crossfit.com t-shirt which says, “It doesn’t have to be fun to be fun”.

From what I saw, Val looked like she was having the time of her life as she knocked off several more minutes off her Half Marathon time with an official 1:41:29 time, which was a 7:45 min/mile pace. In females 40-44, Val placed a very respectable 15th of 600. Overall, she was 567 out of 7,342. Val is still a newbie at road racing, but she has been getting one PR after another!

Pacific Shoreline Finish

Val has a good coach and some really nice teammates who all exceeded their expectations in their races as well. Val diligently followed her good coaching and training and then some. For those that know Val, when she puts her mind to something, she gets it done and she was in fine form again today. To see more pictures of Val’s race, click here. Next stop, the LA Marathon, March 4!
