One of the most common excuses for not working out is "I just don’t have enough time". If you have a half hour, which is all I had today you can get in a superb workout. Most of all Crossfit workouts can get done in less time than that but you have to have some basic equipment do the WODs. Not so with bodyweight exercises. (The old school name for the basic bodyweight stuff was called "calisthenics" and chances are you hated them). This is how I spent the 30 minutes I had.
Bodyweight exercises usually do not require any additional equipment other than your own body. And unlike the equipment, your body gets bigger and stronger when it is used. These exercises can be done anytime, anywhere by just about anyone. Some of the best places to find these exercises on the internet is Bodyweight Culture.com, rosstraining.com and trainforstrength.com. You have to find a better excuse now or better yet, just do some of these exercises.
Today, I started of with a variety of push-ups done in 6 sets for a total of 174. There was a 90 second rest between sets. Next, I did dips of 20/14/16 reps. Finally, I did pull-up pyramids. I would do one pull-up and rest for 20 seconds, then two followed by 20 seconds of rest then three. After that I reversed that and then did the whole thing. I then did a second pyramid. 1-2-3, 3-2-1; 1-2-3, 3-2-1, for a total of 24.
This is what I did in 30 minutes and I left knowing I got a first rate workout. Try some bodyweight exercises in all their variety. It is a terrific workout.
Check out those sites and find a few things you can do and just do them. It won’t take that long or hurt that bad (for long).
