Super Bowl Race Day

With little time to spare, Val and I got through numerous traffic lights, traffic jams and scarce parking spaces to get her inserted into the first starter’s wave of the sold out Surf City Marathon in Huntington Beach, California.

The half marathon sold out early and Val had to settle for her now signature event, the 5,000 meters, a.k.a. the 5K.

It was a cool and somewhat foggy morning on the beach, making for ideal conditions for the runners along with the fast, flat course on Pacific Coast Highway.

Even though Val kept her jacket on, she still came in hot at a time of 21:31 and 5th in division for the 5K race, only seconds off her best time in the event.
