Today was one of the hottest days of the summer, outside and in the gym, which not only has no AC, but terrible ventilation. Close to hard core. I broke sweat before I did anything. The plan was to do a quick workout and find a cool place to hang out and enjoy the holiday weekend.

After running 800 meters, doing 2 rounds of the Crossfit warm-up and a set of 10 deadlift reps at 135, I did a speed deadlift routine at 60% of my 1RM of 385 lbs. That put my work set at 231 pounds, which was 12 singles going up as fast as I can while keeping good form, tight and full of air. My rest periods were 30 seconds each.

After that, I put out 3 sets, 15 reps each of reverse hypers; the first at 20 lbs. and the other two at 40 lbs.

I was now sweating up a storm and it left the gym to get cool for a while before tackling my afternoon job of digging up the yard and levelin dirt so I can lay sod. (Now that was a functional workout). I must have had a gallon of water and two glasses of lemonade.
