Last year, Brent and I did this sick WOD called Painstorm XIX and it was beat-down session For my effort, I got a nasty shoulder injury due to the form breakdown at very high intensity and duration over 40 minutes.

Today’s WOD was a first cousin to that train wreck and that is what I did today (as presctibed on the Crossfit homepage). A couple of hours later, I am smoked, so I know what to expect tomorrow. It really would have helped having someone like Brent of Steve there to share the suffering but this was a solo effort tonight and one in which the thought of quitting came up several times, but never acted upon. It was hot and humid in the gym which did not help matters. I am somewhat disappointed in my time, but then again, I did not scale it and went as prescribed…regardless of how long it would take, so I really have no reason to be disappointed.

Next, the breakdown.

Here it is:

21-18-15-12- and 9 rep rounds of:
95 pound Deadlift
95 pound Hang power clean
95 pound Front squat
95 pound Push jerk

That is a total weight of 28,880 lbs, or 14.4 tons lifted in 40 minutes. I gave it my all. A trainer or a workout partner would have helped in cutting down the necessary rest breaks, but I got my effort’s worth. Of that, there is no question!

There will be no lifting tomorrow for me and probably for this kid:

P.S. Day before yesterday, which was a rest day for me, I did 8 sets of weighted push-ups going as high as 45#. (I kinda hurried through that one).
