The front squat is a progression of the Clean and Jerk that begins once the bar is "received" in the squat position. The bar is caught on the front of the shoulders and for the guys, right against the Adam’s apple! My trouble is in the flexibility required to keep your elbows up. I have found a "sweet spot" that gives me the bar position I need, if a little wide. As my flexibility improves, I should be able to move my hands inward about an inch each side.
Hat tip Brent, you inspired me today with your lifts. Fifty reps and what you told me about it being easier due to what we have done since the last time front squats were on the menu was motivating.
I beat my previous PR by 15 lbs. Here are the stats, all x 3:
115/135/150/165/175*/185*/155/135/135.
I also had a couple of sets of pullups and they are coming back up to where they were prior to last year’s shoulder injury. I got 8 each set after doing the WOD.
