One of the most technical movements in sports is the Olympic barbell snatch. The power version of that lift is called the power snatch and there are about a million places on the internet that can show you how it is done. Here is yet another.

Olympic lifting has a long tradition in sports other than Olympic weightlifting for strength, power and conditioning but it is not without it’s detractors by strength coaches
The weather is starting to heat up here and so is my training. Closing the week with one “hard day” and one “fun day”, I am poised for a strong next week.

After several weeks of sub-par training, I put together a good mix of workouts that were taxing, but not draining. The most important aspect of a workout regimen in my opinion, is consistency. Even if you are having off-weeks, and you will, stay with it even if you have to back off. It is far easier to go into “maintenance mode” and lose a little than have to start all over again. I know this. I have done it enough times and each time it is considerably harder than the last.

I couldn’t make it to 10. It really has been a pretty good year for me and I am poised to continue in 2009. I hope you are too!
