Are the Green Bay Packers going to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLV in Dallas? We’ll know after January 23, 2011 when they take on the Chicago Bears in Chicago for the third time this season. The two teams split in the regular season, both winning at home, but this game is one, if not the most important game for these two teams in the 189 game series, dating back to 1921. Chicago leads the all-time series 92-83-6. the two teams have only met one time in the playoffs and that was in 1941. In that contest, Chicago won and advanced to defeat the New York Giants to claim their 4th NFL championship. Of course, there is much more to the Packers-Bears rivalry for you history buffs.
One of the difference-makers for the Packers for this game and this season is linebacker Clay Matthews, who is in the running for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. The most-often used term I have heard to describe the long-haired defensive standout is “beast”. If you have seen him play, you know what I am talking about.
