How To Get Seriously Strong Before Noon

There is a lot going on at American Gym and ECWC on Saturday mornings. I’ll get in early and do some speed strength training as things begin to get busy outside in the parking lot .

The MMA guys go through intense, strongman-style lists and medleys for superior conditioning training. If our guys get beat, it is never because of the conditioning. (I don’t recall any of our guys getting beat though). Occasionally, other elite fighters find their way here to get in some serious pre-fight conditioning.

Afterwards, the Real Boot Camp crew takes over, led by Scott Brengel and Sean Demarinis. The RBC is a mixture of corporate types claiming mastery of their mind and  bodies and to those who understands the strength and conditioning value of the RBC programming. Everyone comes out better, stronger and fitter.

The third group are the strongman athletes. These guys don’t just show up, they are let out of cages! This is raw strength meeting technique, will, heart and work capacity and measured by the clock. In their ranks, are two LW pros, the aforementioned Scott and Sean, both of whom are training for the ISS Strongest Man Pro-Am to be held in Detroit September 17-18th, 2010. There are some up-and-comers in this group as well. Many of these guys will also wear the kilt and compete in the Highland Games when that event comes to Costa Mesa on Memorial Day weekend.
