Having just begun using weightlifting shoes and loving the added stability and increases in my lifts recently, it was nice to come across this article posted at stronglifts.com. and IronMaven. “Why Weightlifting Shoes”, by Andrew Charniga, Jr.
When I was a runner, I had my daily training shoes but on race day, I had my “fast” shoes, that is, I just felt “faster” when I put them on. It was a special thing. When I started speedskating, I used off-the-shelf plastic shelled Zandstras, but it wasn’t until I got custom-molded to my feet Bonts, did that special, fast feeling return. Whatever your sport, get the right footwear, regardless of the cost. It makes all the difference in the world, biomechanical and psychological.
(For what its worth, even with the great footwear, I was just half-fast)!
